What's New

Entering my events on 'on the day'

Throughout this website, mention is made of entering on the day being slightly more expensive than pre-entering. I have to remind you that the 'enter on the day' only applies where there are places left....the most recent over subscribed events being one of the Ronhill Surrey Classic Races and the New Years Eve Duathlon.

One event that is only enter on the day are the Derby Midweek Events run from September to April...but it is very helpful if you e-mail me to let me know that you will be there.

Do you get cramp in your feet???

If like me you do, then here is a tip that I read in "Country Walking" magazine.....when you get foot cramp, press hard just above your upper lip for a few seconds and the cramp goes...something to do with internal connections. It works!!

Another tip for muddy days

And from the same magazine....after a hard run over the muddy country or fells, you really want to get warm leggings on and you try unsuccessfully to do it without taking off your muddy shoes and, if you do succeed, the inside of the leggings are muddy, here's what you do......put your foot inside a plastic bag and then slide your foot into the leggings, repeating with the other foot and so keep the inside of the leggings dry.

Three Great Races in Prague - 2010

I took a group of 19 people to Prague Grand Prix in September for the Prague Grand Prix of whom 12 ran and very successfully as well. We had the winner of the WV45, WV70, 3rd in the M55, 4th in the M35 and some excellent personal best times.......

....and above all, the group enjoyed their visit and their stay in the Hotel Machova.

In 2010, I shall be taking groups to the Prague Half Marathon (Saturday 27 March), the Marathon (Sunday 9 May) and the Grand Prix (Saturday 11 September).

If you have missed out on the London Marathon, why not use Prague as a substitute and even use the Half as a build up?

New Technology to benefit my runners!!

If you go to the Bradbourne Fell Races and the Chevin Fell Race pages, you will see aerial views of the courses used for the 2009 events and that will be used again next year.

It gives a really good view of thew course and, also on that page, there is a profile of the course to show the undulations.

With luck, and gentle persuasion, I shall try to get similar views done for some of the other courses ... thanks to John Birch of Long Eaton Running Club

Weather

The most important aspect of my events is that I primarily care about runner safety. When there is particularly bad weather (especially snow and ice), I shall put an update on the HOME PAGE of this site and also on the corresponding race page, usually a few hours before the start time so that YOU can take the decision whether or not to run.

Cheap Eurosport TV on your computer/laptop

A friend told me of a good offer to get Eurosport 1 and 2 plus the Eurosport News Channel for about £36 a year!!!

So, as I spend much of the year travelling, and don't have cable or satellite at home, I have just paid 39.90 EUR (I was in Prague when I registered) and so watched all of the Tour de France and am looking forward to the World Athletics Championships on my laptop.....dead easy.

Go to : www.eurosport.co.uk and then there is a button for Eurosport Player.

New Running Magazine

Take a look at www.runningfreemag.co.uk - a free running magazine aimed at the average running enthusiast available online or from stockists nationwide

My Indian House

Each Winter, I spend about 16 weeks in my Indian home and a majority of my guests are runners, relations or friends of runners or complete strangers....and we all seem to get on well together.

Rooms are still available for the end of March and throughout April 2010  and already, several rooms are booked for the 2010-2011 season.

Of course, you could start making plans for a winter holiday NOW and enjoy the richness of life here in Kerala

Free Entry for u16's

As a way of encouraging more youngsters to take part in sport, from now on, in individual races I organise, there will be no charge for those under 16 on the day of the race.
